QuNorth secures future headquarters in Copenhagen
QuNorth has secured its future headquarters in Copenhagen, where the quantum computer Magne will be constructed. Atom Computing intends to set up its new European headquarters in the same building, allowing for daily collaboration on the construction and development of Magne.
QuNorth has chosen Rønnegade 6 in Copenhagen as the location for its new headquarters. The site will house both the company’s offices and the construction of Magne, which is expected to become the world’s most powerful quantum computer for commercial use.
After a thorough process, QuNorth has selected the location for its unique ability to meet the demanding technical and environmental requirements of a large-scale quantum computer. The area offers stable conditions with minimal vibration, low electromagnetic interference, and facilities suitable for cleanroom construction.
“We have found a location that meets the very specific requirements of Magne while positioning us solidly within Innovation District Copenhagen’s growing quantum ecosystem. Being just a short distance from Quantum House and the Niels Bohr Institute allows us to maintain close collaboration with researchers and partners there and to be an active part of Denmark’s vibrant quantum community,” says Ebba Carbonnier, CEO of QuNorth.
Atom Computing, who has recently appointed a regional director for Europe, will set up its European headquarters at the same address.
“We look forward to establishing Atom Computing’s European headquarters in the heart of Copenhagen’s vibrant quantum community. Our future location alongside QuNorth gives us a unique opportunity to collaborate daily, exchange insights, and work towards bringing Magne to its full potential,” says Jesper Kamp, Regional Director for Europe, Atom Computing.
The Rønnegade site is already known for its biotech and laboratory infrastructure, providing a future-proof base for QuNorth as the company grows and as Magne undergoes mid-life upgrades in the years ahead.
QuNorth expects to move into the new facility in summer of 2026. Until then, the QuNorth team is co-located with EIFO (Export and Investment Fund of Denmark).
About QuNorth
QuNorth is a new company with the purpose of acquiring and operating the world’s most powerful commercial quantum computer.
QuNorth is owned 50/50 by EIFO and the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and the company is expected to have around 12 specialized employees.
About Magne
Magne will become the world’s first commercially available Level 2 quantum computer, featuring 50 logical qubits and over 1,200 physical qubits.
It is a complete full-stack quantum computer, meaning it includes not only the hardware containing qubits, but also algorithms, software, an operating system, compiler, and control electronics.
Atom Computing will build and deliver the quantum hardware for Magne, and the computer will be operated by Microsoft Quantum software tailored for Atom Computing’s system.
